Meet Matilda, a sweet 2.5-year-old cat with a unique story and a resilient spirit.
Matilda was initially living on the balcony of a resident in an apartment complex. The resident, who claimed to be allergic to cats, had moved her and her three kittens there. Eventually, they migrated from the balcony to a nearby park, where they joined a colony of stray cats. Despite the transition, Matilda and her kittens were accepted by the resident colony, where she started to adjust to her new outdoor life. However, not long after, Matilda was found with a serious injury. She was rescued and treated for a dislocated hip and an inguinal hernia, possibly the result of a fall, an accident, or even mistreatment. She has since recovered well, though she may always have a slight limp as a reminder of her resilience. Other than that, Matilda is in good health, and a full medical report is available for her future family.
Despite her rough past, Matilda is incredibly affectionate and enjoys attention. She’s not a lap cat, but she loves cuddles and being near her people, especially after an energetic play session. Matilda is very playful and enjoys engaging with her toys, especially when her favorite humans are nearby. Her preferred toys include teasers and ping pong balls, which she pounces on with enthusiasm. While she can keep herself entertained, she definitely prefers interactive play.
Matilda’s sweet and quiet nature makes her a delightful companion. She’s generally a calm cat but has a charming habit of engaging in “conversations” with soft little meows. She’s always there to greet you with a warm welcome when you arrive home. Occasionally, she’ll give a gentle nibble to get your attention or let you know she’s feeling a bit overstimulated, but it’s never rough enough to break the skin. She’s even in the process of learning to walk on a leash, which shows her adaptable and curious personality.
In her foster home, Matilda has been calm around other cats, suggesting she might be comfortable in a home with other feline friends if introduced properly. While she hasn’t been around children, her social and playful demeanor hints that she could do well with children over eight who understand how to treat animals with respect.
Matilda's ideal home would be one where she can feel safe, comfortable, and loved. She would thrive in a calm, stable environment with people who can give her plenty of attention and playtime. A family or individual who enjoys spending quality time with their pets would be perfect for her, as she loves interactive play and being close to her favorite humans. A family willing to let her explore and learn at her own pace, and maybe even continue her leash training, would be the perfect match.
